Saphire ‘Renn’ Kerlin
“Who says girls can’t be trainers? Look at me- I’m a professor! Hahaha, boys have cooties.”
“Who says girls can’t be trainers? Look at me- I’m a professor! Hahaha, boys have cooties.”
”You think I’m old? Puh-lease.” Renn teeters on being a women and just an over grown child – she’s twenty-eight. When she was eleven the Pokémon corruption started, and since then strived to be a Pokémon Scientist to research a way to return them to normal. Somehow she blossomed into the world’s Pokémon Professor.
”Little towns, I like them.” She started her life off in the Hoenn Region, in the town of Dewford, but after obtaining her first Pokémon Mudkip, she ventured far from there. At that time Team Rocket was on a stead come back and only a year later she witnessed the Pokémon corruption.
“Whhatt, I’m hip!” Renn dresses a lot younger than she is, starting with tan army-medical style pants. They have pockets everywhere, and she makes sure she keeps them stocked with random supplies and potions. Her footwear is boots, but it’s not that noticeable seeing how her pants flare over them. Her hair dusts her shoulders – starting at a pitch black at the top, cascading to bleach blonde tips, then from her ear lobe down an unnatural blue. Her eyes change color often – in her pockets she carries colored contacts. Depends on her mood. She often hides behind non-prescription glasses, low rimmed to add a ‘college student’ glow. Renn dawns a longer white shirt [it hangs past her belt], a blue ribbon tied across the middle, the end of the apparel a soft charcoal black. The sleeves stop before her elbows and flare, and on cold days she wears a black long sleeved shirt underneath to protect her arms. Around her neck, often turned under her shirt is a small crystal pendant that looks like water.
“If you don’t know how to have fun, then you need to live a bit.” She acts like a teenager in everyway she can. Slang is a good part of her vocabulary, but when she means business she’ll buck up and talk with a very intellectual air. Renn likes to give hugs, a piggy back ride to a injured child, and to bounce when she’s happy. She gets crude when angry though, but it’s a hard side of her to trigger.
”There once was a very cute child named Saphire that lived in Hoenn…” Renn has seen much in her twenty-eight years, starting with her first Pokémon and the Pokémon corruption. She began to have her interest in Pokémon genetics and evolution shortly after witnessing this – including stumbling across the legendary Poké Ho-ho. Realizing that the Phoenix like Pokémon was a sight of rebirth, she made a jump to strive for reversing the effects of corruption, and giving the imprisoned creatures a new life. Although before this all comes her good old Grandfather, who you can possibly still track down in Dewford if you wish, telling her that “Boys have cooties, show ‘em who’s boss, love.”
”If I were to catch ‘em all, I’d explode trying to give them all names.” Renn has a trusty Mudkip [Luke], unable to evolve because it was exposed to the corruption’s virus. It’s her right hand Pokémon though, but she often withdraws it when the going gets super tough to not pull at its heart strings. On her belt also hangs a Torterra [Twiggy], Flygon [Tempest], and a Lunatune [Starlight]. The fifth Pokémon she carries is often times random, taken from the lab’s shelter. Renn never has a sixth Pokéball clipped onto her belt though. The place holder for this spot is the legendary dog Pokémon, Suicune. She came across it shortly after stumbling across Ho-ho, and created a stong bond with, as she tried to calm it down to save it from the corruption’s effects. Although she doesn’t contain it in a Pokéball, [and is unable to] she can call on it when she needs it.
